Open and Closed Background Check Records in Callaway County

Not all criminal records are public. Missouri splits them into two groups.

Open records are visible to anyone. Under Section 43.507, they include convictions, charges still pending, arrests under 30 days old, and active SIS probation. These come up in a MACHS name search and may show on Case.net for Callaway County cases. Closed records are restricted. They include dismissed cases, unfiled charges, not guilty verdicts, and completed SIS probation. Only the subject, law enforcement, and authorized entities can see them. Fingerprint checks through MACHS pull both types, but only for authorized parties. Section 43.532 makes it a crime to share criminal history data without proper authority.
